The Lodnon 2102 Oimplycs...

The obscenely greedy, Mammon worshipping, insecure, crass, power hungry people who make up the sponsors of the 2012 London Olympics have the audacity to think they have the right to tell local London businesses they can't use the official Olympic rings to publicly display their support for the games.
Some people get carried away with their own perceived importance.
Without money these same people would be impotent.
A governing body called LOCOG has stated that 'Strict rules mean that only official sponsors are allowed to display images of the rings and to use the words London Olympics 2012.'
People though are thankfully creative and resourceful. Tell them they can't do something and they will because where there's a will there's a way!
The founder of the modern Olympics, Baron Pierre de Coubertin explained the Olympic ring design which he created in 1913. 'The rings represent the Unions of five continents and the meeting of athletes from around the world at the Olympic Games. The colours were chosen because at least one of these colours is found within the flag of every nation'.
I'm sure the good Baron did not envisage the likelyhood, one hundred years later, of some greedy selfish, sponsors denying people the right to display this universal symbol.
The original Olympic flag was made at the Bon MarchA store in Paris and first flew over an Olympic stadium at the 1920 Antwerp Games.
This flag carries the Olympic motto in Latin. Citius, Altius, Fortius, which means Faster, Higher, Stronger.
Greed though is unfortunately the way of our world and greed is the what will ultimately destroy our world...

  1. On a slightly different tack would'nt it be fun to have a drug takers Olympics. Athletes could max out on the steroids etc and push the limits. And it also might have the knock on effect of cleaning up the "square world" Olympics.
Surely the pharmaceutical industry would make a killing which they are never add versed to. Just think...The methamphetamine Olympics could be the crack.
MUTATE AND SURVIVE ON THE BUTTON.

  2. The Olympic symbol is universal. It belongs to the people of the world. It does not belong to any elite group. What an insult to the spirit in which Pierre de Coubertin designed the Olympic rings to try and make the symbol exclusive.

  4. Until now I had not realised this was the case! I am not in the least surprised though. This governement has long sold out to the big corporations, and this is just one of the manifestation of their attitude... And Devid Cameron, the prime minister (no capital letters) said some while back "we're all in this together"...Yeah....right...whatever you say.
